Shelter of the Month Spotlight: A Visit to Crash’s Landing & Big Sid’s Sanctuary
There are some days when working in animal welfare creates a truly special feeling inside, and the visit to our Shelter of the Month spotlight was one of them.
We are thrilled to announce that Crash’s Landing & Big Sid’s Sanctuary is officially our October Shelter of the Month! To help support their daily feeding routines and ongoing rescue efforts, CatCause delivered 80 pounds of Purina cat chow directly to their facility.
Behind-the-scenes logistics, merchandise management, and community outreach are all part of what we do at CatCause, but visiting frontline sanctuaries in person is a powerful reminder of why our mission matters.
Inside a Leading Grand Rapids Cat Sanctuary
Walking through the facility, the spotlight immediately falls on the amazingly organized work carried out by the shelter’s Operations Staff, Volunteers, and Dr. Jen.
Crash’s Landing serves as a vital pillar for the West Michigan rescue community, specializing in giving stray, abandoned, and at-risk cats a safe haven. They take on complex medical cases, manage strict medication schedules, and provide specialized, high-level care for at-risk FeLV & FIV positive cats. The operational excellence required to run a specialized facility like this is truly remarkable.
Despite the health battles these felines face, they remain happy, calm, and deeply loved. That peace of mind comes directly from an expert team that is not only highly knowledgeable, but intensely compassionate.
From custom climbing towers and window perches to clean, quiet rooms, the sanctuary functions as a true home-in-transition. During our visit, we had the joy of meeting wonderful resident cats and seeing firsthand the chalkboard message hanging on the wall:
"No home is complete without the pitter-patter of kitty feet."
